Berni

Bernadette Atencio has always had an eye for art. From a long line of artists, she had creativity flowing through her veins from birth. From her humble beginnings of childhood crayon drawings, her talents grew steadily along with her into her teen years.
After taking a high school photography class Bernadette ended up falling in love with photography and the traditional black and white darkroom process. Through her education at the Art Institute of Colorado, she learned how to fine-tune and further develop her creative skills.
I am a photographer who enjoys photographing people. I seek to bring out an inner part of their personality through the use of lighting, posing and environment. From editorial-style to consumer portraiture, in the studio or out on location, I seek to tell a story through my work and create beautiful pieces of art.
For me, the alternative lighting technique, light painting, perfectly illustrates the concept of photography as nothing more than drawing with light. With this technique I have come to see the world as my canvas, the light as my paint and the camera as my brush. Painting with light allows me to fully control how people see light by manipulating it any way I want. With it, I seek to create beautiful, artistic images
